Trump’s “where is the birth certificate?!” stuff is now causing people to say “You’re Fired” .. to themselves. The headline from NY Post:
Trump blasts Seinfeld Pullout
Um, TMI. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
The article goes on to explain that Jerry Seinfeld is a bit perturbed by Trump’s birther stuff, so he pulled out of a charity gig being held by Trump.
Back in January, before Trump announced a possible presidential run, Seinfeld agreed to perform at the foundation event at the Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor. But “Jerry has grown increasingly uncomfortable” with Trump’s questioning Obama’s citizenship, said a Seinfeld rep.
“Jerry . . . feels this kind of demagoguery has no place in public discourse . . . He has respectfully withdrawn from the event, and is making a contribution both to the Eric Trump Foundation and to [St. Jude].
Okay, douche move. I am pretty sure Seinfeld doesn’t pull out of lefty agenda events and they are the *kings* of demagoguery. And this is for charity. For sick children.
But, still. Trump’s response was pretty lame; mostly because I think he was trying to be snarky and it fell flat. I find this offensive – if you want to be snippy, actually be cutting snippy. Anyway, Trump was not pleased and, ever classy, lashed out in rare form:
“We don’t care that you broke your commitment,” he wrote, “even though the children of St. Jude are very disappointed, and despite the fact that your manager clearly stated you are ‘truly a man of his word.’
“What I do feel badly about is that I agreed to do, and did, your failed show, ‘The Marriage Ref,’ even though I thought it was absolutely terrible . . . Despite its poor ratings, I didn’t cancel on you like you canceled on my son and St. Jude. I only wish I did.”
Oh snap? I guess. I just don’t think Seinfeld really cares much about one failed show as he’s cackling madly whilst counting his gigantic pile of Seinfeld cash. If I were Trump, I would have ended with “You are such a NOT Master of Your Domain-er!”
I suppose this is why I’m poor. Sigh.
